FAQs

GENERAL

What if I’ve never danced before?

Barre is for everyone and all fitness abilities. No ballet or other dance experience required.

What should I wear to do Barre?

Feel free to wear what you like, just make sure it is comfortable and you can move freely. Bare feet is a good option for most workouts or sneakers for a more cardio based higher impact class.

What if I have an injury?

I recommend discussing with a medical professional before doing a class.

For Zoom sessions, what if I don’t have a ballet barre at home?

No worries, all you need is something stable like the back of a chair, a sideboard, kitchen bench or even a wall.

What if I don’t have weights at home?

You can use cans of beans, or fill up some water bottles. You can also use no weights and just work with the resistance of your own muscles.

Do you offer one-on-one classes?

Yes! I offer these in studio (in Auckland), or online via Zoom. You can also add a friend for a discounted price. See Custom Classes.

Can I do your class if I’m pregnant, breastfeeding or just given birth?

Yes if your health practitioner gives you the all clear. If you are pregnant I suggest not to do any abdominal crunches or inversions. Email me if you need any special advice.

How many classes should I do a week?

This all depends on your own fitness level as well as your time. We recommend 2 classes a week if possible for best results but it’s all up to you, your fitness goals and how you feel.
